On July 19th, 2024, Matthijs van der Moolen successfully completed his PhD by defending his thesis titled “Modelling Sensory Innervation of Cancer using Organ-on-Chip Technology” at the University of Tübingen.
Utilizing a highly sophisticated chip design, Matthijs could model sensory innervation of cancer including the monitoring of their electrophysiology through microelectrode arrays (MEAs). This platform could be utilized in the future to discover and test novel pain therapies for those in need.
