The CellBio 2024 conference, jointly organized by the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), took place from December 14 to 18, 2024, at the San Diego Convention Center. The venue’s prime location provided an excellent setting for the event, with approximately 5,000 participants in attendance.
The conference covered a diverse range of topics, from aging and senescence to cellular complexity, gene expression, and organelle communication, providing valuable insights for attendees from various disciplines. Our representative from the MicroOrganoLab, Lisa-Marie Erlandsdotter, gave a talk in the session „Advancements in Stem Cell and Organoid Models: Unveiling Insights into Human Diseases“ about „Neuroinflammation-On-Chip: An Inducible iPSC-Derived Immuno-Competent 3D-Neuro-Microphysiological System for Disease Modeling and Therapeutic Discovery“.
Additionally, the conference offered career development sessions tailored to different professional stages, and the expansive exhibition hall showcased leading biotech and pharmaceutical companies, as well as vibrant poster sessions where Lisa-Marie also presented a poster under „Neurodegenerative Diseases and Therapeutics“. Overall, Cell Bio 2024 was an engaging and intellectually stimulating event, fostering knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration among professionals in the field of cell biology.
Three key take-home messages from the conference were: cell biology is increasingly interdisciplinary, career development is an ongoing and personalized process, and collaboration is key to driving innovation.
