Andrea Jimenez

Visiting Scientist

Andrea obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology and a Master's degree in Nutrition and Metabolism in Spain. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Biomedicine, where she focuses on the study of breast cancer, combining clinical data with molecular and biochemical analyses to better understand how patients respond to different treatments. Her research integrates serum and tissue analyses to explore potential biomarkers related to metabolism, immune response, and treatment efficacy.

Throughout her academic career, she has developed a strong interest in the interaction between metabolism and cancer biology, particularly in the context of therapy-induced changes. She has gained experience in omics-based approaches and routinely works with techniques such as ELISA, PCR, and protein extraction from clinical samples. At the Micro-Organo-Lab, she will contribute to the development of organ-on-chip models to study breast cancer in a more physiologically relevant environment. She is especially interested in how the tumor
microenvironment, including adipose tissue, influences cancer progression and therapy response.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
