Esther Hruschka

BSc Student

Esther studied Bioanalytics at the University of Sigmaringen. Throughout her studies, she developed her interests in immunology and cell biology as well as in cell-culture technologies. Because of her interest in immunology, she chose to complete her Integrated Practical Semester at MVZ Ravensburg in the serology and immunology department.

In the first half of 2026, she worked on her Bachelor’s thesis in the µOrganoLab together with Dr. Mathias Busek and Theodora Kristoforus. Her research focused on the recirculation of immune cell populations and their interaction with an endothelial layer in a pumpless, recirculating Organ-on-Chip system. Her main goal was to optimize the shear stress acting on primary endothelial cells for a more physiological alignment, full channel coverage, and viability of the cells in the chip. In September 2026, she continued her work as a research assistant in our lab, primarily helping with chip design optimization, production and regular cell culture duties.

Outside of work, Esther enjoys traveling, doing crafts such as crochet and drawing and experimenting with vegan meals and snacks or spending time with her friends.
