Katrin Staudigel
PhD Candidate
Katrin began her academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart. Her Bachelor's Thesis involved the development of a concept for calculating welded joints in high-temperature environments. Motivated by her growing interest in medical technology, she pursued a Master's in Biomedical Engineering at Leibniz University Hannover, while also completing a Master's in Mechanical Engineering. Katrin conducted her Master's Thesis as part of an Erasmus exchange at the University of Oslo,
where she explored the In-Vivo performance of novel eggshell-based bone scaffolds in rabbit femurs.
Currently, Katrin channels her passion for scientific research at the MicroOrganoLab, where she has been a PhD candidate since March 2025,
working on the Retina-on-Chip project.
In her free time, you'll find her outdoors, whether cycling, running, hiking, or skiing. When she's not immersed in nature, she enjoys swimming laps in the pool and giving belly rubs to dogs.
