Miles Thomas
MSc Student
Miles graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2024, and continued his Master’s in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tübingen afterwards. Miles scientific interests are centered on tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, synthetic biology, and related fields, especially because of their potential to significantly improve public health and medicine. Starting his Master's thesis in the μOrganoLab in April 2026, he is assessing the adipose tissue insulin resistance on the WAT-on-chip. Therefore, Miles is modelling insulin resistance kinetics of the system and validating it experimentally with integrated biosensors.
In his free time, Miles enjoys being outdoors - he runs competitively and hikes often. For instance, last year he completed three marathons, and the year before that he thru-hiked the 4,200 km Pacific Crest Trail.
