Saskia Schmidt
Visiting Scientist
Saskia holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Basel, having graduated in 2019 with qualifications as a pharmacist. During her Master's, she conducted a comparative analysis of uptake transporters in humans and cynomolgus monkeys in vitro, with the objective of aiding the development of new approach methodologies. Saskia is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of Basel and FHNW Muttenz, with a focus on developing a microphysiological system to quantify the liver fibrosis adverse outcome pathway. To this end, she is working with 2D and 3D cell models, and electrochemical biosensors to measure glucose, lactate, pH and ROS.
Saskia has been welcomed as a visiting scholar at the µOrganoLab, where she will be working on a liver-on-chip platform.
In her free time, Saskia enjoys skiing, running, yoga and reading.
