Melisa Tekinalp

MSc Student

Melisa is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Neurosciences at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology at ETH Zurich. Prior to this, she obtained a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Geneva, Switzerland.

During her academic journey, she completed two internships focused on neurovascular research. In these roles, she worked on an algorithm for vascular segmentation in 3D mouse brain imaging, and studied mouse models for Primary Familial Brain Calcification, respectively.

Throughout her studies, she gained knowledge about iPSCs (Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells) and Organoids, which piqued her interest in contributing to brain organoid research due to its fascinating nature. She is excited to share that she is currently engaged in a Master's Thesis project at the MicroOrganoLab, where she is researching human cortical development on a microchip platform.

Beyond her academic pursuits, she has diverse interests. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching horror movies, playing videogames, and engaging in physical activities such as playing volleyball.
