Dr. Ning Zhang

Postdoc

Dr. Ning Zhang graduated in 2018 from Southeast University with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Ning-Ping Huang. Within the frame of his Ph.D. project, Ning aimed to establish biomimetic microenvironments for the regulation of cell behavior towards tissue engineering applications, in collaboration with Prof. Voros Janos (Head of Laboratory of Biosensors and Bioelectronics, ETH Zurich) and Prof. Martin Ehrbar (Head of Laboratory for Cell and Tissue Engineering, University Hospital Zurich) in Switzerland. He accumulated knowledge in hydrogel fabrication and characterization, thus harvesting expertise in 3D cell culture.
Ning joined the µOrganoLab group as a postdoctoral researcher in January 2021 focusing on Immune-response-on-Chip and Brain-on-Chip. In 2022, Ning was awarded MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship and currently he is working on establishing a new generation of Brain-on-chip to study neocortical development and test pharmaceutical interventions.

In his free time, Ning enjoys reading, hiking, swimming, and spending time with family and friends.
