Svenja Wingerter
PhD Candidate
Svenja received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biochemistry at the University of Tübingen. During this time, she completed multiple international and national internships in both industrial and academic environments. During her Master's thesis in the MicroOrgano-Lab, she developed a microvessel-on-chip device in collaboration with the French company Transgene (https://www.transgene.fr) to study the efficacy of oncolytic viruses as a potential treatment for cancer. This partnership led to a research engineer position within the company to develop immuno-oncology models.
In August 2023, she started her Ph.D. project as a collaboration between the MicroOrgano-Lab and Prof. Simon Clark from the Institute for Ophtalmic Research Tübingen (https://www.eye-tuebingen.de/clarklab/). In this project, she will work on the retina-on-chip to study age-related macular degeneration.
In her free time, she enjoys playing oboe in a symphony orchestra, baking, and exploring new countries.
