Stefan’s new paper introduces the Organ-Disc with an on-chip pump to demonstrate tubing-free controlled peristaltic perfusion. Cell viability and functionality of endothelial cells were maintained and the disc was used for whole blood perfusion assays. This paper highlights the progress towards user-friendly and automatable platforms for PDMS-free Organ-on-Chip and Organ-Disc systems.
