On December 8th, 2023, our µOrganoLab PhD Candidate Tanvi Shroff has achieved a great milestone for the µOrganoLab with the successful defense of her PhD thesis on „WAT-Liver-Chip with Integrated Sensors to Study Human White Adipose and Hepatic Tissue Crosstalk“ at the University of Tübingen.
In her work, Tanvi focused on developing a novel Multi-Organ Chip (MOC) platform to model metabolic diseases. The platform, featuring a 3D printed modular insert cassette and chips, enables the connection of two organ-chips with integrated sensors. This innovation introduces biological complexity in a reproducible and economically feasible manner. Tanvi standardized the µOrganoLab’s liver-chip and white adipose tissue (WAT)-chip for vascular connection within the cassette. She demonstrated real-time monitoring capabilities through the integration of glucose and oxygen sensors during perfusion experiments. The platform showcased the accumulation of lipid droplets in connected liver-chips, indicating its impact on cellular behavior.
Tanvi has recently assumed the role of Manager of Technical Studies at Roche. The entire team extends heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for her personal and professional journey ahead. Way to go, Dr. Shroff!
After leaving Tübingen, Tanvi is now working as Manager of Technical Study Coordination at Roche Diagnostics in Mannheim. The entire team extends heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for her personal and professional journey ahead. Way to go, Dr. Shroff!
