Project description:

The project will involve designing microfluidic platforms, establishing novel embossing processes for hard plastics, as well as streamlining production of customizable soft connectors. At the end of the project, you will test your designed platform for biocompatibility and try to establish robust skeletal muscle fibre generation and culture.

What you will learn:

  • Design of microfluidic platforms
  • Fabrication methodologies (e.g. laser cutting, embossing, 3D printing etc.) using different plastic materials, resins and polymers
  • 2D, 3D and on-chip cell culture

Desirable skills of the candidate:

  • Currently enrolled in a master´s degree in Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Technologies or similar
  • Experience with 2D and 3D design software (i.e. AutoCAD; SolidWorks)
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Critical thinking and a problem-solving mind
  • Independent working style and pro-active
  • First experience in cell culture, microscopy and/or COMSOL is an advantage
