Dr. Eduardo Brás
Postdoc
Dr. Eduardo Brás was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology and Biosciences (2020) by Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. His Ph.D. studies were performed in a collaboration between the MEMS and BioMEMS group from INESC-MN, led by Prof. Dr. Joao Pedro Conde, and the Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (IST) as a student under Prof. Dr. Pedro Fernandes. The main focus of his thesis was the development of microfluidic-based systems for multiple applications ranging from: i) bioprocess development; ii) precision agriculture; iii) colorectal cancer research.
Eduardo´s current research interests concern the implementation of bacterial infection models into novel OoC devices as well as the development of sensor-related technologies.
He is currently co-mentored by Prof. Dr. Peter Loskill and Dr. Effie Bastounis (https://www.bastounislab.org/team) in a joint venture merging knowledge from both bioengineering and microbiology.
In his free time, Eduardo enjoys cooking, movies, playing board games, and watching basketball.
